The CSI Balwearie Practical Workshop, a collaboration between Balwearie High School and Fife College, emerged as an initiative driven by the PTC Social Subjects at Balwearie High School. The success of this event has sparked the hope for an annual visit to ITW Construction Products. This recurring initiative aims to continually highlight the seamless transition of skills learned in the classroom to their practical application in a professional working environment. 

Viewforth High School, in collaboration with Raith Rovers Community Foundation, initiated the Sporting Change Project, engaging 15 S2/S3 young people.

Working in partnership with Scottish Charity, You Can Be A Doctor, St Columbas High School organised a range of interactive events designed to generate interest in careers within the healthcare industry. 

The collaboration between The Fix and the school began with discussions to understand how the coffee shop could support Barista students and what insights they could share about running a successful business.

Pupil Support Service (PSS) had some senior pupils interested in mechanics, so they asked Knockhill Racing Circuit if it would be possible to come for a workplace visit.

The Madras Senior Phase Careers and Pathways Evening is an annual event for pupils and their parents to attend. There were over 200 attendees this year all looking for information on the options open to young people during the senior phase at school and beyond.

BAM Construct UK and Woodmill High School continue partnership to deliver another ‘Intro to Construction’ programme aimed at pupils who had expressed an interest in the construction industry.   

P7 pupils at Lochgelly West Primary School are currently taking part in a joint “Core Skills Transition Project” to equip them with an understanding of the employability skills that are embedded within lessons at Lochgelly High School.   

S3 pupils at Glentrohes High School were recently joined by BBC Sports Journalist James Christie who shared his journey from school to university and how this led him into his current profession and dream job.

DYW School Coordinator’s at Glenwood High School recently organised a senior ‘Career Fayre’ to help pupils who are nearing transition from school to make informed decisions about their chosen pathways.  

Kirkcaldy High School (KHS) alumni Adam Campbell returned to the school to give a talk to around 40 Computing Science and Games Development seniors.   

Four young people from Bell Baxter High School recently attended the BAM Construction virtual work experience. They gained an insight into the multifaceted industry of construction. Understanding design, engineering, marketing & communication and all the behind scenes elements it takes to create a successful business.

The Royal Navy STEM Outreach team recently attended Woodmill High School to help the school to increase awareness of STEM applications within a number of settings, give young people hands-on experience using different kit and consider their applications within a Submarine. 

For the first time since Covid, Waid Academy recently held its Christmas Fair and Coffee Morning.  

From September to December 2022, five S3 students from Viewforth High School competed in the Future Asset competition.  

St Columba’s High School held a career and pathway event with attendance from employers including an array of businesses across Fife.

St Andrews High School was lucky to be the only school in Fife offered the opportunity to have the Depute Director from the Bank of England come to the school to deliver career talks. 

The DYW sessions in the five Special Schools in Fife continue to thrive with young people exploring and taking part in a wide range of activities, careers and opportunities.  

A group of Queen Anne High School’s S2 pupils along with some of its S5 STEM leaders visited TechnipFMC in Dunfermline. TechnipFMC is a worldwide organisation who are global leaders in energy technologies. 

On Tuesday 6 December 2022, 12 of Queen Anne High School’s S4 Practical Trade Skills students went on an excursion to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.  

At the beginning of December a group of pupils from three DYW Public Support Service (PSS) centres in Fife enjoyed a visit from the British Army in Glenrothes. The team from the Armed Forces Career Office came to talk through the different roles available within the army and gave an insight into army life and their own personal journeys.   

Pupils at Madras College recently attended a career workshop with a twist, spending the day on a journey of self-discovery to learn more about how their personality fits in different professional environments.  

Jake is one of our leading pupils in the Department of Design, Engineering and Technology (DET) and was the winner of the GMM Pfaudler Sponsored Engineering Award in June 2022.

Eight pupils from S4-S6 at Inverkeithing High School visited Fife Council Building Services in Kirkcaldy to learn about how to apply for Apprenticeships.

Local employers were welcomed into Dunfermline High School to take part in a speed-dating style activity where small groups of S2 pupils moved between tables of different employers, learning what each employer's company does and what they are looking for in new recruits.  

Former Balwearie High School pupil, Ryan McCue, joined S3 pupils to discuss the power of language in business and how it's helped him found his export company Food Export International.

The Community Trade Hub in Buckhaven collaborated with Waid Academy and offered a small group of Waid Academy pupils the chance to take part in their Guided Start programme in Construction Skills.

The languages department at St Andrews High School has been keen to work with businesses to encourage pupils into a career where languages are essential, so when the event came up via Speakers for Schools on LinkedIn, it was the perfect opportunity.

Social Enterprise Academy came into Madras College to speak to senior pupils about what they do. The intention was that interested pupils would learn what a social enterprise is and consider starting up one themselves. It was attended by over 60 S5 and S6 pupils over two sessions.

Inverkeithing High School recently had 120 pupils across S2 and S3 take part in a traditional trades skills day.

Four pupils from Glenrothes High school are currently undertaking work experience at the Scottish Deer Centre in Cupar, Fife.

Dunfermline High School hosted a Careers Fayre with over 60 employers and organisations attending. Representatives from each organisation had their own stand.

Balwearie High School held a STEM Careers Evening on Thursday 15 September. There was a fantastic turn out for the event, with around 180 young people, parents and carers present from various year groups.

Three of Glenrothes’ young people are currently undertaking summer work experience placements at Semefab.

Six of Auchmuty High School’s young people recently got the opportunity to gain some employability skills through professional Barista training and a week-long work placement in a local coffee shop.

On 8th May twenty-five S3 students from Viewforth High School visited Napier University Schools of Engineering and Computing in Edinburgh to participate in Science and Technology based workshops.

Michael Phimister is a student at Rosslyn School in Kirkcaldy and since August 2021 he has been participating in an employment project specifically designed for young people with complex additional support needs.
