Project Description

For the past nine years Patrick has worked within the engineering sector as a CNC Setter/Operator and Training Instructor with Glenrothes based manufacturer of precision metal work Fife Fabrication (FiFab). His initial attraction to this industry came from his interest in technical drawing and working with machines.

Patrick’s role requires him to carry out tasks such as reading drawings, set up sheets, setting of CNC machines, making corrections and quality control to customers specification. Patrick’s eye for detail and ability to solve problems are vital in taking customers ideas and concepts to a finished product.

During his time at FiFab, Patrick has completed a range of training courses including Advanced CNC Programming, NEBS Supervisory Management, Manual Lifting and E.C.D.L Modules. He has always enjoyed the challenge of creating new products and bringing them from prototype to manufacture. This has been evident in FiFab’s response to the covid-19 pandemic in which they have been involved in manufacturing medical equipment vital to this cause and the NHS.

Patrick said of his role as a Key Worker,

‘I have always had an interest in engineering and been prepared to work hard to achieve the targets I set myself. It is a fast-paced environment to work in and I need to be able to adapt to the ever-changing needs of the industry. I enjoy the challenge of my work and I am glad we (FiFab) have been able to assist in the response to covid-19 in the manufacturing of medical equipment that is vital during this pandemic’.
