Name of School: Queen Anne Highschool
The Queen Anne High School Careers Fair was established for their S2 and senior pupils in regards to their course choices and pathways. Students had their pick to visit industry experts from the extensive list of exhibitors and were supplied with worksheets to focus discussions with the businesses in attendance. Over 800 young people and parents attended the event.
The event hosted 41 exhibitors, including renowned companies, startups and educational institutions offering diverse opportunities across multiple industries.
Exhibitors included: Thomson Cooper, Foundation Apprenticeship, The Army, Clas-sic, SDS, SRUC, Fife College, NHS, DYW, Royal Navy, Queen Margaret University, Fairway Fife, Fife Council Child Care, HMRC, Law (Dundee Uni), FVA, Amazon, KDM Group, Babcock International Group, Taylor Wimpey, Strathclyde University, Crown Office, ScotRail, Nardone’s Academy of Performing Arts, Fife Council Building Services, Glasgow Caledonian University, Raytheon, Queen Margaret University, Heriot Watt University, Scottish Gas, ExxonMobil, Raytheon, University of Stirling, RAF, University of Dundee (Primary Education), Scottish Ambulance Service, SSERC, AtkinsRéalis, Edinburgh Napier University, University of St Andrews and Tillicoultry Quarries.
Outcomes
1.The fair provided attendees with valuable insights and practical advice regards their intended career path.
2.Participants expressed appreciation for the networking opportunities and opportunity for detailed 1-1 discussions.
Feedback
The event was very successful with all participants stating they would return due to how easy it was to travel to and how good their interaction was. 85% of businesses stating they were ‘Very Satisfied’ or ‘Satisfied’ with the event.
Objectives
1.Offering Employment Opportunities: Create a venue where employers can directly recruit talent for apprenticeships, internships, graduate programs.
2.Enhancing Skills and Knowledge: Discussions that provide attendees with practical advice, industry insights, and skill- building opportunities to enhance their employability.
3.Building Confidence: Empower job seekers with tools, resources, and guidance to effectively navigate the job market and confidently approach potential employers.
Conclusion
Exhibitors commended the high level of engagement and preparation shown by attendees, while participants praised the event’s organisation and the breadth of resources available.
This event reaffirmed its importance as a platform for bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, setting a strong foundation for continued success in future iterations.The event also generated a lot of partner work which QAHS is exploring at the moment in regard to industry talks and workshops to expand the fair in 2025.
