Project Description
Glenwood High School pupils gain insight into STEM Careers with BAE and Armed Forces
On Tuesday 19th September, S1 and S2 pupils at Glenwood High School had the opportunity to learn more about opportunities in STEM Careers through the education roadshow, hosted by BAE Systems in partnership with RAF and Royal Navy. BAE Systems came along to Glenwood High School and hosted a fun and engaging event.
The aims were to educate pupils on how certain sectors use the world of STEM to do their jobs and inspire young people to reach their potential in a possible career in RAF and Royal Navy. The pupils were able to gain a better understanding of the opportunities available to them in the future if STEM subjects were of a particular interest. Engineering was a particular focus of the session as it showed how engineers in these organisations use knowledge and experience in STEM subjects to solve problems in their roles.
In terms of outcomes – it was clear to see that it was extremely positive. The young people at Glenwood in S1 and S2 left the event with a positive experience and a significant understanding of STEM, its importance and the careers related to it.
