Project Description

Glenrothes Pupils Enjoy Employability Programme

Glenrothes High School pupils recently participated in the Handpicked for Schools employability programme, to learn a range of workplace skills and how these can be practically applied when looking for work.

Handpicked by CR Smith, in partnership with DYW Fife supported the school in delivering the Programme which was an excellent opportunity for our S5 pupils to participate and engage with local employers.

The Handpicked employers completed a series of lessons that covered CV writing, interview skills and interview questions. Pupils were provided with work booklets to complete during the nine-week Programme which gave them something to take-away and refer to on completion of the course.

The pupils engaged well with the tasks and completed a series of scenarios that would stand them in good stead when looking to apply for opportunities in the coming months and years.

Glenrothes High School DYW Fife Board links were instrumental in recruiting the businesses who joined pupils during the session with representatives from Blackadders LLP, Eden Fyfe, Fishers, Bank of Scotland and RWE Renewables.

Trina Brunton from Fishers said, “The pupils have been lovely and I have really enjoyed the experience

Dominic Martin (PE Teacher) said “Lisa from Eden Fyfe was fantastic with our pupils and I know they have taken a lot from this experience”

Amy Kilpatrick (pupil) said “I enjoyed the lessons. I am applying for University after S6 so I will keep these resources to help me prepare for interviews. Huge thank you to Donna from Blackadders for all her help”.
