Project Description

Developing the Young Workforce (Fife) is delighted to share a new suite of business insights films which highlight the opportunities for young people in a variety of businesses from Fife.

Each film gives an overview of the business and explores how they engage with 16 to 24-year-olds, aiming to support the career ambitions and aspirations of the next generation of Fife’s workforce as they consider their future.

With plans for several films to be produced throughout 2021, the first set of films released include contributions from well-known local businesses, such as Specsavers, ExxonMobil, Purvis Group, Fife Fabrications and Ductform HFE.

Part of a national Scottish Government initiative – Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is the Scottish Government’s Youth Employment strategy, operating across 21 regional groups in Scotland. DYW Fife is an employer led, regional group, set up to build local connections between businesses and education to ignite opportunities for Fife’s young people and help prepare them for the world of work.

Supported by DYW Fife, Fife’s schools and Fife College are already working collaboratively with both national and local businesses across a broad range of sectors, to deliver mentoring, careers sessions, skills development sessions, CV support, work placements, site visits, apprenticeships and much more to Fife’s young people.

This first suite of business-insight films released are engaging resources for education and also work to raise the profile of businesses who are working with DYW Fife across the region. When viewed as a series, the films help to create a broad understanding of the wide-ranging opportunities for young people within each business and within the array of sectors and industries that can be found in Fife.

The full set of films are now available for teachers and DYW Coordinators to share with students and will also be available to watch below, or you can view them all on our Vimeo Showcase Page.

DYW Fife is now looking for other Fife businesses to work with on the next suite of insights films. If you would like to feature your business, get in touch with Ryan Hepburn on Ryan.Hepburn@fife.gov.uk
