  • Enthuse young people about careers in the media industry
  • Show how skills developed in English relate to the workplace
  • Increase awareness of routes and pathways into media careers
  • Give pupils practical advice from an experienced industry professional

Partners included DC Thomson – Craig Graham, Editorial Director of The Beano, delivered the session and shared insight into careers in writing, publishing and the changing media landscape.

Learners involved were Advanced Higher English pupils and young people with an interest in writing, publishing and media careers.

What we did

Craig Graham visited the school to speak with an Advanced Higher English class about careers in media and professional writing. He shared his own experience of working in the industry and spoke about the different pathways young people can take into media roles.

The session explored the importance of building connections, developing a strong portfolio and understanding how media organisations continue to evolve in a fast-changing industry. Pupils were able to hear directly from an experienced professional and gain practical advice on how to prepare for future opportunities.
