Project Description

Career Ready

Partner Spotlight

DYW Fife work closely with the Fife community and local organisations to form key partnerships to support young people in Fife.

To celebrate our partners we will be showcasing a ‘Partner Spotlight’ each week, for the next month, to educate about how we work together and the different types of projects each partnership brings.

This week, we hear from Claire Meikle, Career Ready Regional Manager for Fife and Forth Valley.

Can you explain what Career Ready is?

Career Ready are a social mobility charity who wants every young person, regardless of background, to progress to a positive post-school destination, and prosper in work and life.

Career Ready students (S5-S6) are provided with a mentor from the world of work, a 4-week paid internship (within their mentor’s organisation), and access to a series of skills masterclasses. Young people leave school more confident, knowledgeable, and ready to follow their identified career paths.

How does DYW Fife support your objectives?

DYW Fife support Career Ready’s employer engagement objectives as part of a wider strategic partnership with Fife Council and education. Career Ready and DYW Fife work together to identify, engage and support local employers to get involved in an impactful and sustainable way.

The DYW Business Engagement Executive, Amanda Liddell, is an incredible source of support for Career Ready, in our joint commitment to ensure more young people can benefit from a skills-focussed, employer-led programme that is well established, structured, and supported across Fife.

Why should other organisations become involved with DYW Fife?

DYW Fife have an amazing overview of the variety of ways that organisations can support young people to engage in the world of work, to prepare them for the move from school to a positive destination. DYW Fife promotes so well, the benefits of engaging young people in business, supporting organisations with the various ways they can meaningfully get involved. Young people need employers to inspire and guide them, and provide opportunities that will enable them to make rewarding career choices.
