Before engaging in wider achievement, Leon faced significant challenges with engagement in school. He struggled to attempt literacy and numeracy based tasks, had difficulty building positive relationships with peers and did not cooperate with staff. His lack of self-belief hindered his progress, making it hard for him to see his own potential. However, he showed a clear interest in construction activities and problem-solving, which held his focus and revealed the need for a more practical, hands-on timetable to better support his development.
