Fife Council have an opportunity for a motivated person to join their exciting and friendly IT team. This job provides a chance for you to gain valuable work experience while pursuing a degree in Software Development through our successful Graduate Apprentice (GA) programme.
Details of the specific role:
A Graduate Apprenticeship is a 4-year programme which helps you build skills and knowledge. You’ll work, get paid, and achieve a degree. You’ll spend most of your time learning on the job but will also be a student at a university.
The IT team manages the systems used for the Fife Council website, the system used by our Customer Service staff, and the system that employees use to report IT issues or make requests to HR. In addition, Fife Council are continually involved in the introduction of new digital products for Fife Council.
You will be involved in:
- day-to-day support of the systems their team manages.
- working with colleagues to investigate business requirements.
- developing solutions to business problems using our no-code / low-code / some-code systems.
- testing new solutions before implementation.
- looking at data to help our colleagues understand their business better.
- helping with updates and upgrades to our systems.
- considering how we can use new technologies like automation and AI.
You will also be working with other teams in our IT service to gain learning about how they work. You will work with lots of different people in the Council to help them in their jobs and will be working with systems that are used by members of the public.
