The graduate level apprenticeship is a 4-year programme, with the one day per week spent at Heriot Watt University and the other days at our Glenrothes manufacturing facility on rotational assignments in each of the production areas and support teams.
This apprenticeship leads to an Honours Degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering. (BEng (Hons) Engineering Design and Manufacture)
Main Duties:
- Work alongside engineers, from a variety of disciplines, to meet the manufacturing engineering department’s goals and objectives
- Learn and implement lean manufacturing principles and root cause and corrections actions
- Support the development of new manufacturing processes and products
- Work with cutting-edge technology and be part of our Industry 4.0 transformation
- Work with production staff to identify improvement opportunities and solve problems affecting manufacturing
- Generate manufacturing documentation, risk assessments and tooling reports
- Support production teams to meet their safety, on-time delivery and cost of poor quality targets
