MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING APPRENTICE
World Class Gear Manufacturer: LAMOND AND MURRAY DEXIS is one of the UK’s leading sub-contract gear manufacturers, supplying machine-cut gears up to 2.5 metres in diameter and ground gears up to 1.48 metres in diameter.
The company was established in 1921 to manufacture machinery for the mining industry. Since the 1940’s, however, the company has specialised in gear manufacture and has continually invested in plant and machinery and in the extension and improvement of its offices and workshop.
Our 4-year Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship is your gateway to mastering this essential craft while gaining hands-on experience. Throughout the program, you will gain specialist machining skills. You will gain experience in precision manufacturing, mastering the essential processes for producing high-quality parts. You will learn to efficiently organise machining tasks, select the right tools for each operation, and set precise cutting speeds and tolerances.
Salary: £16,244
Qualifications / Skills:
National 5 Maths Grade B or above
National 5 Physics or a Technology subject Grade C or above
Alternatively: Successful completion of a relevant Engineering course at SCQF Level 5 including Mathematics Craft 1 and Craft 2 (or equivalent)
Additionally:
A genuine interest in engineering along with a willingness to learn;
The ability to follow instructions, plan work safely using own initiative;
A team player who demonstrates respect and professionalism toward colleagues;
A good communicator.
