Apprenticeship Specification
The Business Support Apprenticeship includes spending the first year “off the job” at the training providers facility undertaking an NC in a Business-Related Subject on a day release basis. The other 4 days per week the apprentice will be building initial work experience in the allocated department. After the initial period, the apprentice will be allocated a competency framework to work towards which details specific tasks that are required for the role. On completion of these tasks to a consistent level the apprentice is signed off and their competency profile is improved.
Typical tasks include management of communications, emails & telephone calls, compiling and updating of reports on job progress and status. Processing data on our various computer-based systems for tracking status and managing targets. Working with and building relationships with various departments and team members to ensure a smooth operation and accurate record keeping.
During year 2 you will undertake an SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a business discipline to suit your role. This will involve you working with limited support on the tasks you are competent on and demonstrating to an assessor in the workplace you are confident, efficient, and able to undertake these tasks proficiently. You will build a portfolio of evidence.
These positions are available in a range of settings within Score Group:
HSE – Working within the HSE Team you will assist in the smooth operation of the department. The main responsibilities will include; Supporting the completion of HSE inspections, audit reports and reporting on the actions and non-conformances within the Q-Pulse system. Monitoring and reporting on statutory inspections and records, Risk assessment and BASIX deployment and reviewing Legislative Compliance etc. Conducting analysis on HSE Performance and Collating monthly data on key performance indicators. There will also be a requirement to support HSE Meetings with preparing presentations and taking meeting minutes. The role will involve building effective working relationships with the HSE team, Departmental Team Leaders and Representatives of Employee Safety.
IT – Working within the IT Team you will assist in the smooth operation of the department. The main responsibilities will include; Providing front line service desk support to customers, ensuring actions are processed in a timely manner and ensuring customer satisfaction. Sourcing of IT equipment and software, and review of customer budgets against service level agreements. Creation and update on IT hub articles, work instructions and guides. Conducting analysis on IT service performance and collating monthly/quarterly data on key performance indicators. There will also be a requirement to support IT Meetings with preparing presentations and taking meeting minutes. The role will involve building effective working relationships with the IT team and the customer.
Logistics and Materials – Focus on the support of our logistics operation ensuring accuracy of information help on file and updating status and tracking of parts and materials. A level head and good attention to detail is important in this role.
Production Support – Focusing on the support of our production management teams that look after our workshops and their team members. This role involves compiling status reports and targets, monitoring, and reporting on resource usage, attending, and recording of production meetings and reporting on action status. Compiling presentations on production information. Tracking and monitoring of financial status, purchase order and invoicing compilation and tracking. Those who are well organised and able to demonstrate initiative would suit this role
Client Services – Focusing on the support of the client services team made up of account managers, focal points, and sales personnel. The role will include supporting the accuracy of information presented to the client, updating job status on our database, tracking and monitoring job status. Compiling reports and presentations, supporting the contract review process and tendering processes. A good team player with an aptitude to work in a client facing role would suit this route.
Quality Services – Working with the Quality business unit the role includes compilation and tracking of QA cards, Job packs, certification packs and ensuring full traceability of job parts, spares, and repairs. Supporting the QA Inspectors and the Auditing processes to ensure the QA policy is effectively implemented throughout the company. Accuracy of record keeping and understanding of business processes would be advantageous, although training will be given.

You will be supported each step of the way in developing your skills and knowledge on a wide variety of office-based work scopes. As you gain experience you will increase in confidence and ability and be able to handle more sophisticated tasks and become more independent in your application of our tried and tested techniques. By the end of your training period, you will be proficient in conducting a wide range of business support tasks, confidently executing work in an efficient and professional manner. Entry Requirements
Our preferred applicants will have a minimum of:
- Highers at grade C and above or
- An NC qualification in a related discipline
- Nat 5 qualified persons will be considered if they have some additional experience and skills since achieving the Nat 5 qualifications
Selection Process
As part of the selection process applicants that meet the above entry requirements will be invited to undertake a skills test. Successful applicants will then be taken forward to the next stage of the selection process.
