Apprentice HSE Adviser

Provision of Services and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) performance and compliance
  • Learns about and assists in maintaining the Site Health, Safety and Environmental documentation in line with the HSE Management System and external certification requirements
  • Provides support to accident investigations to ensure a high standard and produce internal reports
  • Undertakes increasingly detailed internal inspections and audits of the HSE standards on site and the work practices employed
  • Liaise with other HSE professionals (both internal and external) in order to understand and achieve a positive HSE culture
  • Provides assistance in the community elements of the project to ensure that the project does not adversely affect the local area
  • Provides support and delivers regular training / information on occupational health, safety and environmental awareness for new site workers
  • Once familiar, undertakes site HSE inductions on an ongoing basis
  • Becomes familiar with the required HSE standards and ensures that they are adhered to on site by all
  • Provides assistance in emergency response at site
  • Provides assistance in the organisation of medical examinations (i.e. drug and alcohol testing, etc) of all staff on the project
  • Provides assistance in the management of site waste (i.e. monitoring collection, segregation and waste transfer documentation)
  • Provides technical and administrative support to the persons responsible for HSE on the construction sites
  • Undertakes further roles as dictated by the Director of HSE or delegate

Professional Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications
  • Construction site and HSE competence will be attained as part of the Apprenticeship

  • Good command of English, other languages an advantage
